The Knesset's Labor, Welfare and Health Committee met today (Tuesday) in order to discuss social businesses.
The committee head, MK Eli Alaluf (Kulanu), noted that there are no guidelines about the number of social businesses in Israel, their geographical locations, or how they identify the needs of disadvantaged groups.
"No one has taken responsibility, including the government ministries," said MK Alaluf. "The danger is that social businesses will take over the field and public funds and donations will go to waste without examining the true needs of the periphery."
