Education Minister Naftali Bennett responded at the start of the government’s meeting to Aryeh Deri’s demand to receive authority over schools in the periphery.
“The children in the State of Israel are not toys that can be transferred from one ministry to another. The Education Ministry cannot give up authority over schools in the periphery. I cannot allow the principals of schools in Shlomi and Kiryat Shmona to chase down seven or eight offices in order to be able to open up a new class.”
