Doctors in the US state of Oregon have diagnosed a teenage patient with the bubonic plague, CNN reports. They believe that she contracted the disease from a flea while on a hunting trip.

Only eight humans have come down with the plague in Oregon over the past 20 years, and all of the patients survived. However, 15 people in the US have contracted the plague over the past year, four of whom died.

The Center for Disease Control is working with local authorities to handle to young woman's case.
