A US appeals court has allowed a group of Muslims to sue to the New York Police Department over what they claim was an illegal spy operation.
The Muslim Advocates and the Center for Constitutional Rights filed a lawsuit against the NYPD in 2012 after the Associated Press exposed a systemic surveillance system being used against Muslims in New Jersey.
A federal court dismissed the case in February 2014.
