The International Olympics Committee (IOC) has announced that Kuwait will be suspended from the organization starting tomorrow (Tuesday) due to government interference in its athletics program.

Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah, the head of the association of national Olympic committees, told Associated Press that Kuwait failed to amend its sports laws by the IOC deadline.

Sheikh Ahmad, himself a Kuwaiti national, said that "as a Kuwaiti I am very sad."

FIFA has also suspended the Gulf state's membership for the same reason.
