Iran has criticized a US court for sentencing an engineer to prison for trying to sell classified military information to Iran, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reports.
The defendant, Mozaffar Khazaee, was found guilty of offering 1,500 documents with trade secrets and 600 with military technology while applying to be a teacher at state universities in the Islamic Republic. He received more than eight years in prison and a $50,000 fine. Some of the documents dealt with the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the F-22 Raptor, and other military jets.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry says that "the sentence for Mozaffar Khazaee is totally unfair."
