Israel has rejected the UNESCO decision on Jerusalem, which calls for Israel to remove the Cave of the Patriarchs and Rachel's Tomb from its list of heritage sites.
The Foreign Ministry stated, "Israel completely rejects the scandalous decision of the UNESCO board. This is a ridiculous decision, that adds fuel to the flames that the same Palestinians lit. The decision is an additional step in the Palestinian attempt to distort history. We saw how the Palestinians treat holy sites when they burned Joseph's Tomb and now they try to continue the dangerous path of incitement."
The motion was proposed by the Palestinian representatives, after they withdrew an additional claim that the Kotel is really an Islamic site.
