The Pentagon has announced that US military personnel in a tank forced their way into the Kunduz Hospital before it was blown up last month. The tank caused damage to the building and frightened staff members inside.

A military spokesperson claims that the tank crew thought the building was empty and acted in order to get a further understanding of the situation.

The later airstrike on the building killed 12 people from Doctors without Borders. The organization now claims that the strike may have been intended to destroy evidence of US war crimes, including the tank incident.
