German Chancellor Angela Merkel says that the European Union is considering providing €3 billion ($3.4 billion US) in financial support to Turkey, in order to protect Syrian refugees that have entered.
Turkey has already spent more than €7 billion ($8 billion US) dealing with the Syrian refugee crisis, and only received one billion Euro ($1.1 billion US) in international assistance.
