For the first time, the direct line shared by the world’s largest shipping companies – Maersk and MSC – called an Israeli port, as part of their massive 2M Alliance.
The line, which began in the ports of East Asia, arrived this morning to Haifa Port with the biggest vessel ever to come to Israel. Haifa Port workers unloaded the ship in a rate of 135 moves per ship hour, using 4 of the 6 STS cranes in the Carmel Terminal.
"This is a great day for the Israeli economy and a huge day for us," said Haifa port CEO Mendi Zaltzman. "We are thankful for the trust and cooperation we get from MAERSK and MSC."
