In light of the expected salary raise for Knesset members, MK Yael German (Yesh Atid) has submitted a bill to reform the process. Should the proposal pass, it would allow the Public Committee for MK Wages to determine the salaries independently, without the involvement of the Knesset Committee, as is the case now.
MK German says that "It is not right and proper for MKs to set their own salaries. The Knesset Committee must accept the recommendation of the Public Committee and attach MK salaries to the index, rather than the average wage in the market. Yesh Atid will continue to support the struggle to reduce MKs' salaries and to change the manner in which MKs determine their wages."
