Authorities say that five young girls carried out suicide bombings in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri. Fourteen people, including the bombers, were killed and 39 injured.

The attacks targetted a mosque and the home of a prominent vigilante.

Maiduguri was the first base for Boko Haram, which has killed 17,000 people in its six years of terror. Eyewitnesses say that one of the bombers was only nine years old.
