US Secretary of State John Kerry says that, while his country may support Russian military intervention in Syria, it will continue to insist that dictator Bashar al-Assad leaves power.
AFP reports that Kerry made his comment to the United Nations Security Council after Russia carried out airstrikes against Syrian rebels. Russia has stood behind Assad as one of his strongest supporters and insists that the only way to resolve the Syrian civil war is to strengthen the existing government.
