A rare Byzantine-era floor mosaic discovered in Israel that depicts streets and buildings on a "city map" of a place in Egypt will be presented to the public Thursday after having been restored, AFP reports.
The mosaic of about 3.5 meters by 3.5 meters served as thefloor of a church that no longer exists, the Israel Antiquities Authority said Tuesday.
"The appearance of buildings on mosaic floors is a rare phenomenon in Israel," the authority said.
