The Economy Ministry has given temporary permission for Israel Railway to continue working on Shabbat and expanded the company's autonomy in working during weekly rest hours.
The new permissions are in effect until the government's appeal is settled.
Last week Minister for the Economy Aryeh Deri (Shas) ordered all rail work on Shabbat halted. The move was expected to delay the completion of an express route between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv by two years.
