Authorities say that 17 Syrian refugees drowned today (Sunday) after their boat sank off the coast of Turkey, Associated Press reports.
Local Governor Amir Cicek told the official Anadolu news agency that the coast guard rescued another 20 asylum seekers, and that all passengers about the boat are accounted for.
The boat was headed to the Greek island of Leros when it sank.
