MK Hanin Zoabi (Arab Joint List) said that “Closing the gates of Al-Aksa to Muslims is a dangerous move, and perhaps even without precedent on a holiday. This is the first time that a holy site is being shut down to Muslims. This is a policy akin to declaring war.”
Contrary to Zoabi’s statement, Temple Mount is open to Muslim worshippers, and in honor of the Muslim holiday, age limitations have been lifted. In addition, the site is currently only closed to Jewish visitors, according to ynet.
