Police serving in areas of high tension in Jerusalem will receive a bonus of 10,000 shekels ($2,540 US) this year.
According to a report in Yediyot Aharonot, the bonus is to reward police for their difficult work against the recent escalations of violence, as well as to encourage more people to join the police.
Minister for Public Security Gilad Erdan (Likud) first raised the subject in a Cabinet meeting yesterday (Thursday). He explained that the police force's increasing difficulties and restrictions makes it difficult to draw in new recruits.
