The Vatican flag will be on Friday morning unceremoniously raised for the first time at the United Nations ahead of Pope Francis' first visit to the US, the Holy See mission to the UN said Monday.
The UN recently approved a resolution to allow the flags of non-member states to be raised at the body's headquarters in New York. While the Palestinian Authority is planning a flag-raising ceremony for September 30, the Vatican flag will be raised without fanfare.
