Volkwagen has ordered its dealers in the United States to stop selling several models of its new diesel cars after it was revealed that they were being advertised with false emissions information.
The US Environmental Protection Agency has stated that the company could be fined up to $18 billion dollars for the infraction.
Volkswagen says that has requested an external organization to investigate the incident. CEO Martin Winterkorn also said, "I personally am deeply sorry that we have broken the trust of our customers."
