Nuclear physicist and professor Zvi Lipkin has passed away at the age of 94.

Professor Lipkin was one of the founders of the nuclear physics department at the Weizmann Institute, and served as its head for a time. He also served in senior positions on the Atomic Energy Commission, and on the committee that advised the US Department of Energy.

During the 1950s and 60s, Lipkin was part of the team that set up and operated the nuclear facility in Dimona.
