MK Yisrael Eichler (UTJ) has congratulate six of the new rabbinical judges, three haredi and three from the Lithuanian tradition. "We succeeded in stopping the Reformists' attempt to take over the courts," he said.
According to MK Eichler, "The Jewish Home party, which received three of the positions, brazenly broke its agreement by proposing a judge who was hotly disputed between a feminist group and haredim into the first round. It created a crisis of faith in the committee and aroused much anger in three of the haredi members. But in the second round the mistake was corrected and judges who were accepted by everyone were elected."
