A South Korean court has sentenced Kim Ki-Jong to 12 years in prison for stabbing US Ambassador Mark Lippert.
Last March Kim shouted slogans in favor of uniting North and South Korea, and against cooperation between Washington and Seoul at Lippert, then stabbed the ambassador in the face and hand.
Doctors had to give Lippert 80 stitches on the face.
In handing down the sentence, the judge pointed out that Kim had "shown no repentance, attempting to justify his actions throughout the trial."
