An official at the Pentagon has announced that the US will send troops and equipment to support peacekeepers in the Sinai Peninsula. The enhanced security comes in response to a bomb last week that injured four US soldiers.

According to the official, another 75 people will be sent over, including an infantry platoon and a medical team, along with additional surveillance equipment.

The US currently has a little more than 700 peacekeepers in the Sinai. They are part of an international force that ensures the the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel is maintained.
