The United Arab Emirates denies accusations that it is not doing its part to help Syrian refugees.

The Emirati government delivered a statement to Associated Press in which it stated that it has given more than 100,000 Syrians residency permits in the past four years, and that there are almost 250,000 Syrian citizens currently in UAE.

There are many foreign workers in UAE and their visas are often very restrictive. The statement did not elaborate on any limits placed on the hundreds of thousands of Syrians in the country.
