UK police have arrested three people, including one fellow officer, for allegedly lying about an attempted kidnapping. All three are from Birmingham.
Authorities say that the three gave "false and malicious information" by claiming that an officer was going to "be kidnapped as part of a terrorist plot." All may be charged with suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. The officer may also be charged with misconduct in a public office and misuse of police systems.
