Hundreds of Austrians have set out in 140 vehicles in order to help refugees currently trapped in Hungary, Reuters reports. They are bringing food, water, and clothes, and hope to bring as many people as they can into Austria.
The volunteers say they know that they are breaking the law, but feel morally compelled to do what they can.
"Everyone would really be crazy if they arrest people who support what they have decided politically, namely to let people move on to Austria. The risk that we are taking is so small compared with what the refugees are going through," said Kurto Wendt, one of the organizers.
