US Secretary of State John Kerry spoke over the telephone with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov. Kerry expressed concern in light of Russia’s increased involvement in Syria.
Kerry made it clear that such acts would only intensify the dispute in Syria, lead t increased mortality and cause a rise in refugees and anti-ISIS (“Islamic State”) activity in the region, the US State Department announced.
