Minister Yariv Levin opposed on Sunday calls for Israel to take in Syrian migrants.
“MK Herzog’s populist proposal for Israel to take in Syrian refugees is irresponsible… The State of Israel has been at the forefront of providing humanitarian aid for years, and was the first country to take in and treat wounded Syrians. Nevertheless we must be cautious and know our limits. Taking in refugees from an enemy country, who are likely to make connections with anti-Israel forces with the country’s own borders, will only hurt national interests and disrupt demographic balance.”
