Administrators at Auschwitz have announced that they will remove the recently-installed showers designed to help visitors cool off in the summer heat, Nana10 news reports.

The site came under criticism by many who felt that showers have too strong of a connotation with the method of killing inside nearby Birkenau and other camps.

Temperatures in Poland have reached 37 degrees Celsius this summer, though officials at Auschwitz say that the heat wave has ended and the shower are no longer necessary.
