Europe’s Human Rights Court in Strasbourg condemned Italy’s government for its treatment of Tunisian migrants in a 2011 event. The migrants were headed for Europe when they were apprehended and detained before being deported back to their homeland.
The court ruled that the absorption center’s conditions were unacceptable and criticized the legality of the migrants’ detention and deportation.
