Syria's director of antiquities said Monday that the ancient temple of Bel in Palmyra is still standing, despite reports of the Islamic State terror group attempting to destroy it.
A Syrian human rights organization claimed Sunday that ISIS was bombing part of the temple of Bel, built during the Roman period, but it was not yet clear the extent of the damage.
