Egypt has announced that it will hold a parliamentary election in October and November. The two-part election was initially scheduled for MArch and April, but a Supreme Court ruling against part of the electoral law caused it to be delayed.

The country has had a rocky few years, involving the revolution and overthrow of dictator Hosni Mubarak, the election of the Muslim Brotherhood and President Mohammed Morsi, and a military coup that brought Abdul Fattah al-Sisi to power.

Due to these events, the parliament has not met since 2012.
