Justice Ministry: Information on New Commissioner Wasn't from Police

The Ministry of Justice has stated that, while it has received information on possible crimes committed by appointed police commissioner Gal Hirsch, the reports did not come from Israel Police.

"Regarding this information, and regarding the Minister for Public Security's request to evaluate the candidate, the Attorney General asked the head of investigations and intelligence to forward on any relevant information that the police have that could be relevant to the appointment," the Ministry explained in an official statement.

The Ministry emphasized that the Attorney General and the head of investigations and intelligence have acted as they are required by law.
