David Einhorn, who lost his son Yehonatan in the Second Lebanon War, on Friday asked Gal Hirsch to give up the top job as police commissioner which he had been promised.
"You failed the test of trust. Three factors, two military and one civilian, indicated that you failed. The State of Israel is not a university, and cannot be allowed a make-up test, especially after so much blood was spilled of our fallen members, including Yehonatan..." wrote Einhorn.
"By removing your candidacy you will prove your commitment to the country and the people, your morality and your values - those values which are much talked about in recent days - and especially you will prove your sensitivity to the consequences of that terrible war over which you commanded," he added.
