Princeton University has announced that it will set up an eruv around the campus, and including part of the surrounding town.
Dean of Religious Life Reverend Dr. Alison Boden and Rabbi Julie Roth, the university's Jewish chaplain and Hillel director, explained that the eruv will be finished within three weeks.
An eruv allows Shabbat-observant Jews to carry objects, such as keys or food, outside during Shabbat.
Hillel estimates that about 700 students, or 10 percent of the school's enrollment, are Jewish. It is unknown how many observe Shabbat.
