The National Zoo in Washington, D.C., has announced that one of the two giant panda cubs born over the weekend has died.
"We are sad to report that the smaller of the two panda cubs has died," the zoo tweeted this afternoon (Wednesday).
Zoo officials warned that the cubs were small, but both had initially appeared to be healthy.
