Minister of Interior Gilad Erdan responded to the appointment of Gal Hirsch to the position of Police Commissioner and said that Hirsch “Knows the Police Department from his previous positions. I believe that he will upgrade the police’s abilities and will complete what is lacking within the department.”
Regarding critics of Hirsch’s appointment following the Second Lebanon War, Erdan said that “I have been convinced that he has been grossly wronged and that I do not need to disqualify him because of this mistake. I identified within him great hunger to succeed and devote himself to the task, which is one of the reasons I was convinced that he is right for the job.”
