Russia has withdrawn its short ban against Wikipedia after only a few hours.
A provincial Russian court rules that the site's article on hashish contained censored information. In order to enforce the ruling, the government ordered internet providers to block access to the Russian-lanuage version of Wikipedia late last night (Monday).
By this morning, the page had been edited to remove the offending information and the ban was withdrawn.
Critics have claimed that the Russian Federal Communications Agency uses such bans to block any information it dislikes, including legitimate political criticism.
