Saeb Erekat has been appointed as the new head of the PLO Executive Committee and will serve as head of the Palestinian Authority (PA) after Mahmoud Abbas retires, Israel Hayom reports.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Mahmoud Abbas is expected to resign at the end of the week due to the impass in negotiations with Israel and in protest against the lack of interest from the international community.
