Slovakia has announced that it would prefer to take in Christian refugees over those of other religions, as part of a European program to rehome refugees from war and poverty.
The interior ministry announced that Slovakia will accept 200 people from Turkish and Italian refugee camps, and that it would prefer them to be Christian. The statement explained that Slovakia is interested in welcoming people who truly wish to start a new life and that, as a Christian country, it can support and integrate Christians who escaped Syria.
The statement also clarified that Muslims who are rehomed in Slovakia would not be treated badly.
