A US man has been arrested for threatening to blow up the Statue of Liberty. He is being charged with conveying false and misleading information and hoaxes.
Jason Paul Smith, 42, allegedly called 911 in April. He claimed that he was an "ISI [sic] terrorist" named Abdul Yasin, and that he was going to blow up the Statue of Liberty.
Authorities evacuated the Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island, where it is located until they deemed that the threat was unfounded.
