Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas is reportedly preparing to resign from the UNRWA executive committee, according to Lebanese news source Al-Mayadeen.
The PA has refused to comment on the report.
The UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East, is the largest organization within the United Nations. It is also the only one to focus on a single group. It has been facing a severe financial shortage recently, and warned that it may have to delay its school year.
