The internationally-recognized government in Libya is asking other Arab countries for help in arming its military. According to Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Dairi, Libya needs the weaponry in order to fight against the growing ISIS threat.

Al-Dairi made his request during an emergency Arab League meeting today (Tuesday).

A civil war has been raging in Libya between the internationally-recognized government and an Islamist government. Over recent months, though, ISIS has had making a small but growing presence.

The UN has embargo weapon sales to Libya since 2011, though some exceptions have been permitted.
