Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Nobel Prize winners from various scientific fields today (Sunday). The laureates are gathered in Israel for the World Science Conference. About 400 students from more than 70 countries around the world.

"I am happy to see you here and this is a special opportunity for me and for the country," said Prime Minister Netanyahu. "The conference for which you have come is taking place during a unique period in human history, in which knowledge and understanding are advancing quickly. We are standing at a point in which we can take part in the process. There is still a great battle between modernity and those who adhere to medieval tenets. We are at the heart of the conflict here, but I have no doubt that modernity will win out. It always does, but sometimes the price is heavy."

Netanyahu added, "No one makes peace with those who are weak. Therefore we must be strong for the sake of peace, for the sake of our future, for the sake of our people's prosperity and so that modernity defeats the Middle Ages. For me, the core of that strength is found in this room here - brain power. We need this, it is what you represent and what we admire."
