A senior Russian official has denied claims that his country violated the UN sanctions against Iran by hosting a general from the Islamic Republic.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov says that there is no truth to reports that Major General Ghasem Soleimani, the commander of Iran's elite Quds Force, visited Moscow. "I have no information whatsoever that he visited Russia," said Ryabkov.
The United Nations has blacklisted Soleimaini since 2007.
