Charges were filed on Thursday against a 20-year-old Arab man from Ramallah for attempting to illegally leave the country and make contact with a foreign agent.

The charges indicate that the suspect attempted to leave Israel for Syria in order to join the “Islamic State” (ISIS) terrorist organization. He made contact with a man via Twitter who identified himself as a senior ISIS member. He traveled to Turkey and was arrested hours before crossing the border into Syria. After a few days, the terrorist was deported to Israel, where he was arrested upon landing in Ben Gurion International Airport.
