The Mexican government is trying to promote breastfeeding by forbidding hospitals to give away free baby formula.
Parents will still be able to purchase baby formula and doctors will be able to prescribe it.
Currently only one out of every seven Mexican mothers exclusively breastfeeds her baby for the first six months. The World Health Organization says that breastfeeding is the best way to feed babies up to six months old. Afterwards they should have food but still continue breastfeeding until they are at least two years old.
