Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Dov Kalmanovich protested against the opening of the city’s “Yes Planet” cinema complex on the Sabbath.
“The Sabbath is a religious and social principle. Maintaining the status quo fulfills a commitment to quiet in Jerusalem. The time has come for religious Zionism to say its piece and fight for the Sabbath just as it fights for the land of Israel. We will fight for the Sabbath like we fight for the homes in Beit El. I contacted leaders of the national Jewish Home party in order for local and national representatives to work together on the matter.”
