Meretz chairwoman Zehava Galon was less than complimentary in her response to the establishment Monday of independent rabbinical courts to carry out conversions outside of the Rabbinate.
"It doesn't matter if the person controlling the conversions is a haredi rabbi from the Rabbinate or a national-religious rabbi," Galon asserted. "This will not change the situation for hundreds of thousands of Israelis who continue to be considered second-class citizens."
